Course Overview
- Provides participants with the following:
- Understanding of the components of a robust Biorisk Management System
- Interactive training on the cyclical process of hazard identification-risk assessment-risk mitigation- performance monitoring as described in the WHO Lab biosafety Manual 4th Edition
- Understanding of the various mitigation measures that can be implemented sustainably in the laboratory
- Basic techniques of performance monitoring including inspections and audits
- Understanding of the importance of incident reporting and learning from incidents

Accreditation / Award / Certification
Participant who achieves at least 75% attendance and passes all the assessments with competent in this course will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
About The Trainers
Dr. Viji Vijayan
Dr Viji Vijayan has vast experience in managing laboratories in Singapore and she serves on several Biosafety Committees internationally. She works with international agencies like European Union CBRN Centers of Excellence; World Health Organization through their partner agencies; Global Affairs Canada; Health Security Partners and others to provide Biorisk Management training and consultation in many parts of the world. She also has a Master’s degree in Human Factors and Systems Safety from Lund University in Sweden. These educational achievements, together with her vast expertise in the field of biorisk management, has allowed her to develop a unique set of skills that enables her to develop and implement biorisk management systems with a distinctive practical approach.
